Steve has been called “The Tall One” around the office for obvious reasons. He puts “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” at the top of his creative pyramid, calling it “fearlessly intelligent silliness.” For one summer in college, he worked in a particularly non-creative job, making fudge in a northern Wisconsin resort town. Steve believes fear is the biggest enemy of the creative process, and that doing your homework and investing the time to understand what audiences really care about will remove most of that fear.
Steve has been or is currently on the board of directors for the YMCA, Waypoint Family Services, Orchestra Iowa, Big Brother Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity and the Alzheimer’s Association. He has received numerous industry awards for his work and is a member of the Advertising Federation Hall of Fame. He received his degrees in journalism and design at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
