To help the Cedar Rapids Metro Alliance address a persistent shortage of skilled labor and advanced manufacturing employees, Amperage Marketing consultants developed an advertising campaign focusing on the “Job Rush.”
The campaign portrayed the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City Corridor as a place where good jobs are available and an area where potential employees would want to live.
Television, radio, digital and social media messages created by Amperage consultants helped potential employees see Cedar Rapids-Iowa City area as a great place to live, work and play.
Creative and media buys were focused on high school juniors and seniors and community college students in a targeted area:
The “Job Rush” concept, based on the historic U.S. gold rush, encouraged potential employees to act quickly, before it’s too late, because there’s a future to be made in the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City Corridor. Ads drove potential employees to a website, CRICJobRush.com.
The creative tone was encouraging, inclusive, positive, hip, straightforward and fun—designed to counter student cynicism toward job/career campaigns and the “sea of sameness” one often seen in these efforts. A zombie opened one ad video, and a duck call in church opened another. The video and banner ads all emphasized “Good Jobs, Right Here, Right Now” in the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City area.
